Injury prevention in young players
A proper warm-up, enough rest and listening to pain: the three foundations of injury prevention.
A young player's body is still growing, so it needs special care. Many injuries can be avoided with simple habits.
Always warm up
A 10-15 minute dynamic warm-up (running, movement and coordination drills) prepares muscles and joints. Many academies use special structured programmes for this.
Rest and sleep
During growth the body recovers while you sleep. Days without training are just as important as training itself.
Do not play through pain
Pain is a signal. If it lasts several days or gets worse, see a doctor or a sports medicine specialist. An early diagnosis often saves a long break.
Manage the load
Playing for several teams at once and training hard every day is a risk for a young player. Plan the week together with your coach and parents.
On ScoutPro you will find sports medicine specialists in a separate category: physiotherapists, rehabilitation and prevention specialists. This article is general information and does not replace a doctor's advice.
